Out 'n' About in Barcelona

Hola hola!

So today was just such a nice time with the kids that I have to share with you our day :)
It started with a thundery (yay!) morning  and then the rest of the day was rockin' Barcelona.

The start of the journey...ice cream energy source a must ;)

I had this grand idea of hitting up the Sagrada Familiar but, duh, tickets for that are in such high-demand that by the time we lined up at 11am, they were only selling tickets for 5pm entry. @_@
Noooo, thank you!
At least I got to who the kiddos the outside which they were impressed with and which served as a good teaser for what's in the inside. Perhaps tomorrow we'll get tix nice 'n' early...or another day. ;)
No hurry, no worry -- that is definitely the mantra of the summer. Ha!

I then had the brilliant idea of walking from Sagrada Familia to the head of Las Ramblas, thinking it'd be a quick 10-minute walk, max.
Of course it turned out to be more like an hour what with constantly having to stop and pick up William, if not persuade him to walk 50 meters on his own...plus pleas for ice cream, then water, then potty break, then having to wash terribly dirty hands, etc etc.

But! When we finally got to Las Ramblas, the kids' reaction was everything I'd hoped for!
The floral section of the street was a delight to the eyes, and the statues at the end were
We also find a snazzy little restaurant in the Barri Gotic where the kids enjoyed a Menú and I got to have a variety of tapas.

Menus are cray-cray: a first dish, second dish, and a postre at the end?? So much!! But they ate it all. How?? @_@

And, get this! The restaurant was called Momos which also happens to be the title of this great book I am reading to the kids. Momo by Michael Ende.

I have to say, I have read soooo much this summer so far!
I will have to do a blog entry about it because they have all been phenomenal titles recommended by my tía and prima so far.

Back to our day, to wrap it up, there was yet more ice cream that melted so insanely quickly that I just had to catch some shots of the kids positively basted in the stuff. Ha!

Aaaand that wraps up our day in Barcelona.

Naturally, we finished the day at the piscina down the road, and after their gargantuan lunch, dinner was just a light sandwich with carrot sticks.
Eeeassyyyy...

Tomorrow, Chita doesn't have to work, so we may be going to see her cousin Jose Luis, who also knows Japanese! Awesome!! I haven't seen him in forever, and the kids have never met him, so that'll be good :)

Til then, take care and Happy Out 'n' About in Barcelona!!
